September's color of the month is here! I have been spending a lot of time at the ocean soaking up the last little bit of summer and I have been so inspired by the seaweed along the Maine coast! The seaweed that covers most of Maine's beach is called "Bladderwack" but I really could not handle that name so instead I decided to name this yarn after one of my all time favorite stops in Midcoast Maine, Beachamp Point. Beachamp Point is a tucked away in Rockport, behind the harbor. It's just a little dip off a dip off a dirt road that opens up to beautiful rocky coast line and tons of seaweed! It is such an amazing serene spot that I have been relaxing at since I was a young teenager with a new drivers licence.
To create the colorway I dyed it all over with a soft silver grey, then I created my own grey brown using orange and plum which I poured over the yarn- creating lots of layers of color. I then poured over a second mixture of more silver grey with a bit of Navy blue to really capture the darkest parks of the seaweed. To finished I speckle dyed bronze and gold on one side and turquoise and orange on the other.
I am so happy with the results of this yarn- it is deep and moody with so many different pops of color. I also dyed a complimentary colorway on mohair silk that will pair perfectly with this color OR you could pair it with my newest colorway, Intergalactic!
This yarn is available on Spontaneous Sock Yarn Fingering Weight OR DK weight. Select which weight you would prefer with the drop down below.
If you are looking to pair this colorway with another base I would recommend Plush 4 ply or Single for fingering weight or Everyday DK for DK weight.

I've decided that instead of offering a surprise club offering every month, I would prefer to offer a Color Of The Month. Personally, I don't care for surprise colorways and would rather know what I am purchasing and I would like to extend the courtesy to you so I will be creating a colorway of the month (only available in that month, while supplies last) on a special base now INSTEAD of my Spontaneous Sock Club.
And as for the base...
Spontaneous Sock Yarn is a 4 ply yarn containing 75% Superwash Merino Wool 25% Nylon Yarn. This is a medium grade wool that makes a durable and springy yarn perfect for items that will be worn and washed a lot! My favorite part about this yarn is that is takes dye so well and produces strong and vibrant colors.
This yarn is certified cruelty free.
Superwash yarn is machine washable in a gentle cycle with like colors, lay flat to dry. I've had a pair sneak into the dryer before and that won't ruin it, but whatever you make will last much longer if you air dry.
This fiber was handdyed by ontheround using professional quality acid dyes. I dye my yarn in small batches and no skein will be 100% the same- that's what makes working with hand dyed yarn so fun!
I do my very best to accurately photograph my yarns but please note that not all monitors are the same. My yarn is made in my smoke-free, pet free studio in Rockland Maine.
