Color of the month is back!

I am so excited to show you, Sea Glass, January's Color of the Month!

Sea Glass is a variegated colorway with layers of ocean green, taupe, rose pink and champagne and finished with baby blue. There are no speckles in this colorway, so just soft colors and overlapping. I wanted it to have muted colors, like how brightly colored glass gets worn down by the sea. I envisioned these colors like a handful of colorful treasures gathered on a sandy beach.

This months colorway was inspired by my lovely customer Rebecca who really wanted my Pixel colorway to be called Sea Glass. I loved her suggestion and though I already had a name planed for Pixel, I was inspired by her suggestion and knew that was the direction I wanted to go with my first color of the month for 2023!

If you are looking to pair Inspired with one of my other colorways, I would recommend Hemlock, Chocolate, Wayward, Always A Bridesmaid, Gourd, Dahlia, or The Deep Dark Woods. It would also be lovely with Robin's Egg, Pressed Petal, or Fig if you have any of those discontinued colorways in your stash!

I also dyed up a special batch of Sea Foam to pair with this colorway. Sea Foam is typically only available on my Cottage base, my non superwash merino yarn, but I thought it would look so beautiful with this months colorway that I couldn't help myself and did a special run on Plush Single, Plush DK, and Nimble Sock.

Sea Glass is available throughout the month of January on Plush Single, Plush DK, and Nimble Sock.

Plush DK, a silky soft, bouncy  4 ply, extra fine superwash merino yarn. This base takes dye extremely and has a luxurious hand.  Plush DK is next to skin soft and ideal for next to skin and baby knits. I especially love using it for crochet granny square blankets and sweaters!

Colorway: Sea Glass

19.5 Micron Extra Fine Superwash Merino Wool
DK Weight, 4ply
218 yards, 100 g
This yarn is certified cruelty free.

Superwash yarn is machine washable in a gentle cycle with like colors, lay flat to dry. I've had a pair sneak into the dryer before and that won't ruin it, but whatever you make will last much longer if you air dry.  I highly recommend using Merino Sweater Soap by Long Winter Soap Co and available in the Mercantile section of my website.

This fiber was hand dyed by ontheround using professional quality acid dyes. I dye my yarn in small batches and no skein will be 100% the same- that's what makes working with hand dyed yarn so fun!

I do my very best to accurately photograph my yarns but please note that not all monitors are the same. My yarn is made in my smoke-free, pet free studio.

Care Instructions

The best thing to do is hand wash you garment (and any other wool garments) in the sink using warm water (not at all hot) and a small amount of gentle soap, we recommend Long Winter Soap Co. Sweater Soap, available in the Mercantile Section on this site.

Gently spot clean stains and extra grimy spots with your hands being careful not to wring or pull, as that will stretch your garment. Rinse clean using cold water, this will get all the soap out.

Now take your garment and place it in your washer machine and spin out the extra water. If you don't have a washer at home lay your garment out on a couple of towels and roll it up to get out the extra water.

Finally, block your garment into its original shape and allow to air dry flat on a clean towel. In the sun or by a wood stove will speed up the process.

Remember to flip it over so the backside dries as well.

This process will keep your knits looking good and lasting for a long time!

NOTE: This is the same process I use for cleaning my superwash yarn. Although it is technically machine washable, I find that my knits last much longer when they are handled with the most care.
