Throwback colorway!
Silver Lining Tweed is a colorway that I started dyeing years ago- and it's always been one of my best selling colorways. It was a spinoff of another popular colorway that I had called Rainbow Tweed, a rainbow speckled yarn on a white base.
Fun fact- this colorway actually started as spinning fiber! I would card bits of rainbow colored sari silk into undyed fiber, and later silver fiber and spin it into yarn to sell on my site. In 2015 when I left etsy and started selling through my own website I stopped spinning yarn for sale, but I wanted to continue with my Rainbow colorways so I re-imaged the colorway for speckle dyed yarn.
I retired it a few years ago because I had got burned out from dyeing it so much and replaced it with my Speckled Cornucopia colorway- another big hit!
I really love this colorway- years ago I knit myself an Effortless Cardigan using Everyday DK and it turned out amazing- it’s like a classy grown-up rainbow vibe… if that’s such a thing? You can also see this colorway in the publication Maine Knits by Beatrice Perron Dahlen in Bristol Ivy's contribution to the book, Quarry Shawl.
Silver Lining Tweed or SLT as I like to call it, is dyed twice- first with a rainbow of speckled including Cherry Red, Orange, Chartreuse, Mint Green, Aqualon Blue, and Violet, and then I dye it a second time in silver gray.

All of these yarns are certified cruelty free.
Superwash yarn is technically machine washable in a gentle cycle with like colors, I do however recommend hand washing your knits made with superwash yarn as the washer will tug and pull at your knits causing them to lose their shape or worse rip. I was my knits in the sink using luke warm water and Long Winter Farm Sweater Soap. This soap has lanolin in it which protects the natural fibers. I spot wash any stains and allow my sweater to soak for approximately 30 minutes. Rinse your sweater with cool water if necessary and them gently wring out any extra water, I use my top load washer spin cycle this this, but you can use a towel as well. After the excess water is removed, lay your garment flat to air dry.
This fiber was handdyed by ontheround using professional quality acid dyes. I dye my yarn in small batches and no skein will be 100% the same- that's what makes working with hand dyed yarn so fun!

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
The best thing to do is hand wash you garment (and any other wool garments) in the sink using warm water (not at all hot) and a small amount of gentle soap, we recommend Long Winter Soap Co. Sweater Soap, available in the Mercantile Section on this site.
Gently spot clean stains and extra grimy spots with your hands being careful not to wring or pull, as that will stretch your garment. Rinse clean using cold water, this will get all the soap out.
Now take your garment and place it in your washer machine and spin out the extra water. If you don't have a washer at home lay your garment out on a couple of towels and roll it up to get out the extra water.
Finally, block your garment into its original shape and allow to air dry flat on a clean towel. In the sun or by a wood stove will speed up the process.
Remember to flip it over so the backside dries as well.
This process will keep your knits looking good and lasting for a long time!
NOTE: This is the same process I use for cleaning my superwash yarn. Although it is technically machine washable, I find that my knits last much longer when they are handled with the most care.
