Ontheround is an independent yarn dye studio located in Rockland, Maine and is owned and operated by Rachel Jones. We offer a wide selection of yarn in unique hand dyed colorways for knitting, crochet, and weaving.

We carry a variety of yarn weights and specialize in soft merino wool yarns in both superwash and untreated bases and occasionally fiber for hand spinners.

At ontheorund we take pride in offering consistently hand dyed colorways that are available in larger dye lots for all your project needs. We always carry over 30 unique hand dyed colorways that offer multiple options for mixing an matching- including speckle dyed yarn, varigated, and semi solid colorways.

We have 5 merino wool yarn bases available in our Plush Collection featuring extra fine superwash merino wool- Plush Single, Nimble Sock, Plush DK, Plush Worsted, and Plush Bulky.

We also carry two untreated, non-superwash merino wool yarn bases in our Cottage Collection featuring extra fine merino wool, Cottage Fingering and Cottage DK.

    While our yarn is dyed in small batches we still offer larger quantities for projects of all sizes!

  • Hand Dyed in Thomaston, Maine

    Our Dye Studio in located at 166 Main Street Thomaston, Maine. Summer shopping hours are Thursday and Friday 10-3 and Saturdays 12-4 or by chance or appointment.

  • Featuring Merino Wool yarns

    All of our yarns are incredibly soft 19.5-micron merino wool and certified cruelty free! We offer both Superwash and Non Superwash Yarns as well as spinning fiber.
